A Piece of Cake

It was the weekend and there was no football on TV as it was the summer. “What shall we do today AJ?” asked Mollie “I’m hungry” said Benny thinking of his belly again, “why don’t we bake a cake for Nobby and Terry at PremierPlus they have been putting things on their website about us, it would be a nice way to say thanks” suggested AJ

“I know a place where we can make a great cake” Tazmin said, she was talking to Mollie on the phone at the time, “where is that?” asked Mollie. “With a bit of our magic we can go and join junior master chef, it’s being filmed right near to where our cousins live in Newport” replied Tazmin,

“Oh I like Theo and Andreas” said Benny “They’ve always got carrots in their pockets for me an AJ”

“OK” shouted Tazmin “we’ll meet you there, Tia and I will pick up the boys on the way”

So the two groups of friends held hands and feet and paws and said the magic words “Here we stand though we are miles apart, we’ll close our eyes and the magic will start, we’ve been footballers fairies and a ref, now lets get baking on junior  master chef”

They opened their eyes and they were all on the set live on TV, Greg the presenter said to the camera “so now we have the finalists I want you to split into two groups, Mollie, AJ, Andreas and Tia are the blue team and Tazmin, Theo, Henry and Benny are the red team. John, the other presenter, said to the two teams “right you are here on merit so I want to see quality. What you are going to bake is a chocolate cake’ and you have two hours to complete, are you ready?” the two teams stood still waiting for the chance to start, John carried on “OK guys BAKE”

The red and blue teams burst into life Andreas poured flour into a large mixing bowl, AJ put in the cocoa powder and Mollie put the butter and sugar in and placed the bowl under the mixing machine switching it on.

The blue team couldn’t find any more flour and were starting to fall behind, then the two presenters turned to the camera and announced “we’ve had a chat and we think all eight of the finalists deserve to be champion so you are all winners as long as the cake is worth eating now the blue team can make the Icing.

So Taz and Theo grabbed a large box of icing sugar Henry and Benny put in the butter, milk and flavoring. They made the mixture and it was perfect, so they placed it in a cool place waiting for the cake to be cooked.

By now it was cooking nicely in the oven. After 20mins AJ shouted “Its ready” and they took it out and placed it on a cooling grid.

“OK” said Taz “let’s get the icing ready” and she turned Henry and Benny but they weren’t there. “Where have they gone?” asked Theo then there was a crash in the corner of the studio where the icing had been placed.

Everyone looked over and their mouths dropped open, for there was Henry and Benny standing next to an empty bowl with icing around their mouths.

“You have 15mins to sort that out” said Greg and both teams flew into a controlled panic by the time they had finished they were all covered in icing sugar, they looked at each other and laughed.

“Time” said John “no more baking” he went on and they all stood back and looked at the masterpiece in front of them in fact there were two masterpieces as they had made two cakes. One had an outline of AJ on it the other an outline of Benny both in chocolate.

Greg and John cut into one of these cakes and tasted it.

“WOW” they both said together “that’s the best cake I’ve ever tasted you are all truly worthy Junior Masterchef Champions” and they were all presented with a medal.

Mollie asked if they could take the other cake with them “yes of course you can” said John “who’s it for?” asked Greg.

“Nobby and Terry from PremierPlus” said Mollie “Terry is our Granddad” said Taz, Tia, Andreas and Theo” He’ll love it”
